Serristori Chianti Classico DOCG 750ml

R198.00

Grapes: 85% sangiovese grosso; 15% other varieties as prescribed by the rules of the DOCG.

Vineyard: particularly acclaimed parcels selected in the Sienese part of the Classico zone of Chianti, on land in the communes of Castellina and Radda. The vineyards are trained by the Guyot and spurred cordon systems on well exposed hills (300-350 metres altitude) of very mixed soil, and with often very different microclimates. The production of grapes per hectare is 75 quintals, with a yield of 70% wine.

Vinification: the ripe grapes, picked during the first ten days of October, are traditionally vinified by the red wine method, with two weeks maceration and frequent remontages; the fermentation, following the addition of selected yeasts, takes place at a controlled temperature (25°C).

Maturation: one year in vats of Limousin oak. The wine ages for a long time in glass before introduction for consumption.

Wine: ruby red colour; vinous bouquet fragrant of ripe grapes, violets and irises, with hints of fruits of the forest and vanilla; dry, very attractive, clean and savoury and pleasantly fruity flavour, with an elegant, lingering aftertaste of raspberries and almonds.

ABV 13.3%

The ancient Machiavelli estate, with its vineyards, olive groves and cellars, and the prestigious brand of Serristori, are now owned by Gruppo Italiano Vini.
